DESCRIPTION

The trailhead is right next to the Neumeyer Hut domes, in the Challhuaco Valley. The trail is very well marked and goes through a beautiful lenga (Tall deciduous beech) forest.

After roughly 15 minutes walk you will reach the first lookout, just a little ahead is the Duck lagoon. Soon after you reach a fork, follow the left trail which continues up to the summit of Challuaco peak, the right one goes to the Green Lagoon. After a few meters you’ll head out to a clearing with a great view, then the trail veers left back into the forest for a short while and soon you are above the tree line in a shoulder that takes you up towards the summit. Look out for markings on the trees and cairns or markings on the rock. The sun is very strong in the summer, have plenty of water and register at the hut.

Follow the same trail back to the hut.
